Mike Lawhead joined Sowell & Company Realtors late last year, but is now in his 19th year in the real estate business. Mike is active in Realtor affairs, having served as a MAAR board member (1999 - 2000), a trustee of the Multi-Million Dollar Club (1999 - 2000), Vice President of the MAAR Education Foundation, and a three-time chairman of MAAR's Governmental Affairs Committee. Mike was awarded a MAAR Presidential Award for his service as Governmental Affairs chairman in 1997.

Prior to his real estate career, Mike was an award-winning investigative reporter at WREG-TV in Memphis (CBS), where he worked as a news/sports anchor for 14 years. Mike is also active in community affairs. He is a graduate of the 1980 class of Leadership Memphis and served three terms on the LM board of trustees. Since 1997, Mike has been the radio play-by-play voice of the Owls of Memphis University School, winners of two back-to-back state football championships in the past seven years.
