As people are spending more time at home during this Coronavirus pandemic, many folks are taking the opportunity to “sort and sift.” Beyond the requisite extra cleaning for heath and safety reasons, they are making their homes tidier.
At Sowell Realtors, we want to encourage homeowners who are thinking about putting their house on the market to think of this as a chance to “Quarantine Clean.”
Spring cleaning is an annual rite for many people. And this year you actually have time to tackle some chores that might go undone if times were different. Do them now, and your house will be better for it — and you’ll be able to present your house in its best light.
Here’s a list to get you started:
- Clean out all closets and drawers
Less clutter will make YOU feel better and make your home look more spacious to prospective buyers.
- Repair leaky faucets and toilets
- Replace smoke alarm batteries
- Wash windows — inside and out
You won’t believe what a different this will make!
Touch-up trim or go for a fresh coat on walls and ceilings. For resale purposes, tend to stick to neutral colors to have the broadest appeal.
- Recycle old magazines, newspapers and other papers
Again, the goal is to reduce the clutter.
Remove dead leaves and debris, put fresh mulch in flower beds, and add potted plants to spruce up your landscaping, porch or patio.
Give your sidewalks and driveway a new lease on life.
Lastly, take photos of your home and your property while trees and shrubs are blooming. You can use these photos when you are ready to list your home.
